CLIMACT has chosen to support reduction projects located in regions with the
highest growth rate in energy demands in the world. These projects will help this
demand to be met through the production of renewable energy (map)
The projects status are at different s tages of the CDM process, ranging from ‘Validation’ to ‘CERs delivered’.
|
CLIMACT bases its carbon offsetting service on the immediate cancellation of CERs in its register. Therefore, only those projects with 'CERs delivered' status are proposed to provide this service.
The windmill Liuao project helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions generated from the high-growth, coal-dominated power generation in East China.
Emission reductions from this project comes from two small hydro located along a river in Sri Lanka. With a capacity of 3.2 MW, the two power supply
8 000 000 kWh / year, equivalent to the consumption of 13 000 inhabitants.
The main purpose of the project activity is to generate electrical energy using wind power resources, and to utilize the generated output for selling it to the State Electricity Board at Tirunelveli dist in Tamil Nadu, India.
Installation of a wastewater treatment system that allows methane, a powerful greenhouse gas, to be recuperated and used as a source of renewable energy.
This wastewater treatment system should lead to a reduction in emissions of 26,256 tons of CO2eq a year, which represents the emissions of 7,800 return flights between Brussels and Mubay.
