CLIMACT has chosen to support the installation of wind turbines to produce renewable electricity. The production of clean electricity from these turbines is expected to prevent the issuance of 84 000 tons per year CO2eq, the equivalent emissions of 7000 average house in Belgium for a year.
The windmill Liuao project helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions generated from the high-growth, coal-dominated power generation in East China.

The Liuao project is the first Chinese CDM project ever to receive the Gold Standard label *.
This label has been granted taking into account the fact that through transparent stakeholder meetings, community members were directly engaged in the design of the project, creating a product that not only benefits the climate but also improves local standards of living. More particularly, the project:
* The Gold Standard is a quality label for emissions reductions projects (renewable energy, and energy efficiency), all with high sustainable development benefits. This label is endorsed by over 60 non-governmental organizations worldwide (e.g. WWF), and Gold Standard projects are preferred by a range of government and private buyers. (See www.cdmgoldstandard.org)
ACM 0002
The project has already reduced GHG emissions in consideration of which 25.443 CER Gold Standard have been issued.
In the future, the project is expected to generate additional CERs in the range of 84.000/year.
